I have a rare opportunity for a male guardian home who lives within 30 minutes of Eagle Creek Oregon… Klaus is a beautiful boy born & raised here with me from two amazing parents who have European bloodlines. He brings out the best qualities of both parents & he is a stunning representation of the breed. I fell in love with Klaus & after careful evaluation and health testing I have decided to keep him to be a future dad for our program… I am so excited as he has the temperament, conformation & health that I strive towards here at Oregon Bernese.
Klaus is a ton of fun & a ball of love & enthusiasm. He adores kids & plays super well with them… I had kids draping toys over him & dressing him up this weekend and he loved every minute of it. He is medium energy at this age at least so he would do well in a home with another playful dog or at least with kiddos who will be around to play with him lots. He is very well socialized, has a good start on potty training & is extremely good motivated. Plays very well with other dogs & loves everyone he meets.
MEET KLAUS
Guardian homes for boys are a bit different than for girls: much shorter times away from their families (just a few days at a time or sometimes they can be just gone for an hour or two for breeding if you live locally enough) but more frequently in the year. I am very excited about Gus & would love to do some dog shows with him for conformation as well as some fun classes like obedience, tricks or rally. If his family was interested in doing that with him that would be amazing & I would be happy to pay the entry fees etc to competitions. If not I would want to take him to shows a few weekends a year to compete… might be a great time for families take a vacation etc.
It would be amazing to find a family who is passionate about Berners & excited to have a boy that will be helping preserve this beautiful breed. I know the more frequent need for him could be inconvenient, but it would be to help create some beautiful pups and his family would be welcome to come meet & socialize the babies & feel involved in helping create some amazing puppies!
For some breeding's if the guardian is open to it the breeder can meet with the female at the guardian's house for a few 30 minute "dates" with the female in a fenced yard or garage. Or the male may come stay with the breeder for a few days at a time.
Klaus will likely be used for 1-4 times in every two months as a stud: Sometimes he may not be used for 1-2 months at a time & then all my girls go into heat at the same time & he needs to be used 3x. Klaus would be used for 4 years from date of first breeding. After siring his first 6 litters his guardian will begin to receive a $100 thank you stipend for every successful litter born from him.
Breeder will pay for the costs of:
-
Purchase/worth of a top-quality AKC dog
-
Microchip & AKC registration
-
All breeding related vet care
-
All health testing costs
-
Any vet costs & food when dog is at breeders.
-
Cost of Neuter if after 5 or more litters
-
After siring 6 litters his guardian will begin to receive a $100 thank you stipend for every successful litter born from him.
Guardian covers the normal costs of a pet for example:

Gas too & from breeders or vets when needed.
Here at Oregon Bernese I have guardian homes which give my adult dogs their own loving families who they live with other than when they come for a few days at a time for breeding. This gives families who may not otherwise be able to find or afford a extremley high quality & well-trained dog a chance to welcome one into their family at no cost to them in exchange for the dog being a sire for the program for a few years. When a dog retires, they will stay with their guardian family for life.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in please fill out the questionnaire below & email it too Knifongb@gmail.com

-
What type of home do you live in? (Home, Apartment, Townhouse, or Other), do you own it? If not has your landlord given you permission for a large dog?

Once we talk & you read over the contract details if it sounds reasonable are you willing to commit to this for the full possibly 5-6 years (puppy will need to grow up before the 4 years used as a sire? Receiving Klaus free of charge is a b but it is still a long-term commitment. If you decide the program isn’t for you before the contract has been fulfilled the dog must be returned.
-
Are you willing to meet in person or over facetime to go over the arrangement & meet Klaus before bringing him puppy home should you choose to move forward?
